An extremely accomplished offshore sailor, Gonzalo Botin is a two-time world champion. He participated in many ocean races such as the Route de Rhum in 2010. At 48, he will race in the Transat Québec Saint-Malo for the first time. But before sailing down the St-Lawrence River, he will talke Tales II on the East coast of the United States to compete in the Atlantic Cup.
Botín is also a talented boat designer and he is the inspiration behind Tales II, which has consistently proven to be a very fast boat. After winning two World Championships (2010 and 2012) with his Akilaria MKII Tales, Botin knew precisely what he wanted for the new boat. The team behind Tales II includes some of the best in the business such as Project Manager Antonio ‘Talpi’ Piris. The boat was designed by Botin Partners and built by Ximo Lopez from Longitud Cero. The sum of their talents is a great showcase for the best of Spanish sailing. Together they built a highly customized Class40, remarkable in terms of weight saving and detailing.
