A well-known sailor from Normandy, Benoit Charron is surrounding himself with an all-Norman crew this season. With the help of Marc de Saint-Denis and young sailors Calliste Antoine and Alois Kerduel, Charron will be racing in the Transat Québec St-Malo for the first time. « First, navigation conditions in the St-Lawrence River should suit us because we’re used to coastal sailing The lenght of the race doesn’t scare us either since we all have offshore experience. This is a high-level competition so it’s really exciting for our young sailors onboard. In addition, for a Granville native like me, sailing off the coast of Newfoundland on the Grand Banks, has a certain magic and charm that appeals to me!».
Région Normandie is a Pogo 40 S3 designed by naval architects Finot-Conq and built by Structures, it’s the last generation of Class40. It was launched in 2014 under the name Normandie.
