Young sailor Louis Duc from Carteret already has a wealth of offshore racing experience. Sailing with his parents since we has 6 months old, he started participating in mini transat races when he was just a teen. In 2005, at only 19, he restored a wrecked boat in order to take part in the Transat 6.50. Despite his age, he has already raced in some of the biggest ocean races, including the Transat Québec Saint-Malo in 2008 and 2012, the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2007, 2013 and 2015, The Transat, where he notched up fourth place and the prestigious Route de Rhum in 2014. More recently, he notched up seconde place at The Transat Bakerly.
Carac is a Akilaria Class 40 designed by Mark Lombard. The 12 metre boat was launched in Tunisia in 2008. Since then, Carac has sailed thousands of miles, is a 2-time world champion (2010 and 2012) and was third to cross the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2015.
