Éric Tabardel Skipper

Canada / Québec

Will not race

At age 48, Éric Tabardel has spent most of his days out on the water. The phys. ed. teacher introduced himself to life as a sailor, becoming an instructor at the Québec Sailing Federation. After participating in the 2004 Transat Québec Saint-Malo as a crew member, than again in 2012 as a skipper, Tabarnel is back for a third transat at the helm of Bleu, a Class40 he built himself, intending to use this race to cement Québec’s place among the world’s top sailing nations while spreading along the way an environmental message of respect and protection of the oceans.

Bleu is a Class40 designed by Sam Manuard with the help of New Zealander Chris Sayuer. Éric Tabardel has won his wager to build a reliable, robust and high performance Québec boat, gathering all trades around his idea.
